Conferences
MIPA has been hosting conferences for many years. In the fall, we have two how-to conferences, one for high school students and one for middle school students. In the spring, we have a conference for on-site contest and awards. These are great days for scholastic journalism in Michigan!
Spring Conference
The MIPA Spring Conference is a day of on-site contests and awards to honor students for all of the hard work they’ve done throughout the year. About 1,200 students and their advisers gather at the Lansing Center to see who takes home the coveted Spartan and Individual Category awards.
We will have our spring conference at the Lansing Center on Tuesday, Apr. 17, 2012. Details will be posted here as they become available.
Fall Conference
This day attracts more than 2,000 students and teachers. With about 80 sessions to choose from, participants go home with lots of new ideas to try.
The fall conference was held Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011. View an archive of coverage from this year’s event.
Middle School Conference
MIPA has been hosting a three-hour conference for middle school students since 2003. Held at Michigan State University in November, this conference is usually the first time many of the students have been on a college campus. We even have a mini-contest for the students complete with awards given that day.
The middle school conference was held Friday, Nov. 4, 2011. View an archive of coverage from this year’s event.
Other Conferences
MIPA has offered some additional conferences in the past. View an archive of previous events.
