Black, White and Read: Summer Workshops 2009

Many years have passed since the joke “What’s black and white and read all over?” was popular. The answer to that one? The newspaper.

But if you asked that question today, the answer would be very different. Not everyone is getting their information from newspapers.

Black and white? We live in a world of color.

Regardless of where you go for information, one thing is still black and white: You need to know the basics of writing, design, photography and video to create media that gets the attention of your audience. The vehicle may change, but the destination is still the same: A quality informational product that meets the needs of your audience.

We are prepared to give you those basics and more at the MIPA Summer Journalism Workshop.

Besides those basics we’ll be giving everyone a taste of new media. Whether it’s a podcast, Twitter, a blog or a Flip video clip, you’ll go home with some new options for achieving success.

In addition, yearbook staffs can look forward to some wonderful changes that are guaranteed to get you excited and prepared to create a fantastic 2010 yearbook.

Mark your calendars. Tell your friends. And meet us here at MSU from August 2–6. You’ll start in a world of black and white and end up in living color.

It’s no joke.
