MIPA and the MSU School of Journalism are proud to offer scholarships for scholastic journalism educators who take our courses. Please see MSU’s tuition calculator for information on total tuition costs. Current teachers seeking college credit who are not enrolled in a degree-granting program at MSU typically would enroll in our courses at the lifelong education graduate level.
MIPA offers scholarships of up to $500 for teachers who take the workshop for credit. Smaller scholarships may be considered based availability of funds for teachers who don’t want/need to take a course for credit. Preference is given to MIPA member teachers.
MSU J-School Pell Scholarships
MSU offers two scholarships of up to $1,000 for people who take the workshop for credit in honor of former MIPA executive director Cheryl Pell. This scholarship is available to middle, junior and high school journalism teachers with five or fewer years of journalism advising who wish to take journalism classes at the J-School toward certification or a degree in journalism. Preference will be given to teachers currently working or recently assigned as an adviser for the newspaper, yearbook, broadcast or video productions who wish to add journalism as an endorsement on their teaching certification.
Crain MSU Detroit High School Journalism Teachers
Crain Communications Inc. has provided funding for full and partial scholarships to assist teachers participating in the Crain MSU Detroit High School Journalism program to take the workshop for credit or not for credit.
