Teacher Toolbox
Our Teacher Toolbox includes all kinds of downloadable resources you can use to encourage your students to attend the MIPA Summer Journalism Workshop, including:
- A worksheet with all the information needed to complete the registration form
- A letter you can customize to send home
- Slides for a parent meeting/presentation
- A script for phone calls
- A “save the date” email
- And more!

List of attendees
The MIPA office updates a list of workshop attendees weekly so MIPA member advisers can see who has registered. You must be logged into MIPA’s website to view this list. If you are not a MIPA adviser, please contact us to check on the registration status of any of your students.
Request Sara-Beth!
MIPA Summer Workshop Director Sara-Beth Badalamente loves to visit MIPA member schools – either in person or virtually via web conference call – to talk to students about our program. If you’d like Sara-Beth in your classroom, please contact her directly at sarabeth@mipamsu.org. Please include preferred dates and/or times when your class meets, and a phone number where Sara-Beth can call you to finalize plans.
We’ll mail your students (and their parents) info about camp!
We’ll mail a letter with detailed program information to up to five of your students and their parents. Just tell us about them! (We need an address so the letter reaches their home and information about your recommendations for what workshop classes they should consider.) Here’s an example of the letter we’ll send.

Please note: We are discouraging all outside visitors during our 2022 program and will not be holding organized Adviser Day activities. We hope to resume this activity in future years. Tuesday is Adviser Day at the MIPA Summer Journalism Workshop. Come visit your students, check out their classes and have lunch. Learn more and sign up!
