We believe all young people deserve a chance to participate in a program like the MIPA Summer Journalism Workshop, and so we’ve developed a variety of financial aid programs to help.
Scholarships
MIPA has several scholarships to help students attend the summer workshop. The application deadline for student scholarships is June 1. Learn More and Apply
We ask scholarship applicants to register for their desired program and to pay a reduced deposit of $25 to hold a spot in their desired workshop course. (The $25 scholarship deposit replaces the requirement to pay a $40 nonrefundable deposit to hold your spot in a course.) The scholarship deposit will be refunded if the student is awarded a scholarship or if the student cancels their registration by the posted deadline. If a student does not receive a scholarship but still attends our program, the deposit is applied toward the registration fee. Deposits may be waived for those in financial need.
Crowdfunding
You can use our crowdfunding system, SponsorMe, to raise money from people you know. Just start a campaign and share it! Learn More and Launch Your Campaign
There is no cost to use this platform and no minimum donation amount. Every dollar you raise is applied toward your registration fee.
Fundraising Ideas
We’ve put together a list of ideas that you and your student media program may be able to use to help cover the costs of registration fees for those who attend the workshop. Learn More
Grants for New Advisers & Programs
Are you a new adviser or the adviser of a new program? MIPA’s BOMR grant program can help you pay to send a student to our workshop. Learn More and Apply. Deadline: June 1
