The Michigan Interscholastic Press Association is looking for classroom assistants to join our experienced summer workshop team.
The MIPA Summer Journalism Workshop, which launched in 1984, annually draws more than 300 youth participants to Michigan State University for a five-day residential program.
Classroom assistants may be assigned to any classroom with more than 15 students, working under the supervision of one of our instructors.
Assistants should have significant experience in journalism or student media. Teaching experience is preferred. Our classes include topics in reporting and writing, design, photography, broadcast, yearbook and digital media.
Faculty and staff stay on site for five days in a campus residence hall. Meals and housing are included. Program dates are July 28-Aug. 1, 2019. All staff must pass an annual university background check and complete a required training program.
More information about our program can be found at http://mipamsu.org/events/mipa2019.
Applicants should submit a resume and cover letter explaining why they want to work at our program. Questions about these positions can be addressed to Summer Workshop Director Sara-Beth Badalamente at sarabeth@mipamsu.org or Executive Director Jeremy Steele at jws@mipamsu.org.
Applications should be submitted using the form below. We will begin reviewing applications on Jan. 1 and will continue until all positions are filled. Classroom assistant positions are not expected to be finalized until late spring or early summer.
