MIPA is excited to welcome national award-winning journalism adviser Jim Streisel, MJE, as this year’s featured speaker. Streisel will be leading sessions throughout the day.
Streisel, the 2013 Dow Jones News Fund National High School Journalism Teacher of the Year, is the adviser of the Carmel (Indiana) High School HiLite newspaper and its website, www.hilite.org. Streisel has written two journalism textbooks, “High School Journalism: A Practical Guide” and “Scholastic Web Journalism: Connecting with Readers in a Digital World.” He’s also an instructor at the MIPA Summer Journalism Workshop.

Now in our 168th year, The Argus-Press is a daily newspaper based in Owosso, which also provides printing services for both school-based and traditional news publications. MIPA Consultations & Critiques
Sit down with one of our coaches to do a critique of your media program’s recent work, to talk through your plans for the year or to get another perspective on a project.
Bring copies of your newspaper, current yearbook work or a flash drive of your video production to discuss with a media professional or with an adviser who has built a reputation of excellence in scholastic journalism. Critiques are scheduled by appointment. Please note: WiFi may not be available in the consultation area.
