The Michigan Interscholastic Press Association is looking for instructors to join our experienced summer workshop team.
The MIPA Summer Journalism Workshop, which launched in 1984, annually draws more than 300 youth participants to Michigan State University for a five-day residential program.
Our instructors lead intensive courses with middle and high school students in focused areas of journalism and media production. We’re looking for teachers who have built a track record of excellence in media-related fields at state and national levels. Our classes include topics in reporting and writing, design, photography, broadcast, yearbook and digital media. Available teaching positions may vary based on workshop enrollment, availability of current faculty members and other factors.
Faculty and staff stay on site for five days in a campus residence hall. Meals and housing are included. Program dates are July 28-Aug. 1, 2019. All staff must pass an annual university background check and complete a required training program.
More information about our program can be found at http://mipamsu.org/events/mipa2019.
Applicants should submit a resume and cover letter explaining why they want to work at our program. Application materials should include information about teaching experience and accomplishments, including journalism and media-related courses taught, curriculum development and innovations in student media. List recent personal, student and student media outlet awards received.
Questions about these positions can be addressed to Summer Workshop Director Sara-Beth Badalamente at sarabeth@mipamsu.org or Executive Director Jeremy Steele at jws@mipamsu.org.
Use the below form to apply. We will begin reviewing applications on Jan. 1 and will continue until all positions are filled.
