The Emery at Ann Arbor Huron High School won first-place honors in the Michigan Interscholastic Press Association’s first Social Media Innovation contest.
The competition is one of several MIPA special contests held in the spring before the end of the school year. It recognizes member programs that are practicing cutting-edge journalism and media production using social media platforms. Entrants submitted a presentation outlining how the staff is using social media in innovative ways to advance the mission of the media program.
Judges considered the impact of the social media project on the media program, the innovative nature of the social media work and the staff’s analysis of the effort, including how it achieved the staff’s goals and/or changes to improve the project.
