Charyl Stockwell Preparatory Academy newspaper and yearbook adviser Christina Hammitt is next in line to become MIPA’s president. She was elected first vice president in MIPA’s 2020 board elections, and will automatically step up to be MIPA’s president in 2022.
Members also elected two trustees. Stockbridge High School newspaper and yearbook adviser Elizabeth Cyr was re-elected to another two-year term as trustee.
She is joined by Michael Kaufman, who advises “Creuseline” at Frederick V. Pankow Center, who was also was elected to fill an open trustee position.
Hammitt previously had served as MIPA’s second vice president.
MIPA’s Executive Board on May 16 unanimously appointed Lakeshore High School yearbook adviser Heather Caid to fill the remaining one year of Hammitt’s term as second vice president.
Following the May meeting — the final scheduled meeting of the 2019-2020 academic year — Kaitlin Edgerton succeeded Grand Blanc High School yearbook adviser Ava Butzu as MIPA’s president. Butzu remains on the board as past president.
Lydia Cadena of Novi High School, who served as trustee, and Broadcast Video Chair Jamie Flanagan of Fraser High School are leaving the board. Their two-year terms have expired.
