A special publication highlighting 20 years of editors at The Sailors’ Log newspaper earned the Mona Shores High School student media outlet first-place honors in the Michigan Interscholastic Press Association’s Special Projects contest.

The competition is one of several MIPA spring contest categories. It honors student work that goes beyond the regular work of that student media outlet. Results in the 2017 Special Projects category are:

Adviser Warren Kent III has been in charge of the newspaper at Mona Shores for 20 years. Current staff members tracked down the previous 20 years worth of editors-in-chief and wrote profiles about them.
