MIPA’s Individual Category Contests are judged by journalism educators, professional journalists and college journalism students who gather for a day at Michigan State University. It’s a great opportunity to network, and be inspired. You’re invited to join the fun!
We invite you to participate in person at Michigan State University or remotely live via Zoom to judge MIPA’s statewide annual contests using our online contest platform. Judges work in pairs. We need your help! We will host an orientation followed by live judging work sessions from 9 a.m.–3 p.m. on the following dates:
- Saturday, March 1, 2025
Judges may also be needed to work outside of scheduled work sessions.
Use the form below to sign up!
Never been a judge? New to journalism advising? No problem! You have what it takes to be one of our contest judges. We’ll teach you anything specific that you might need to know and we’ll pair you with an experienced judge. No one works alone!
Judging MIPA contests is a great way to see some of the amazing journalism that students across Michigan are producing for their newspapers, yearbooks, broadcast programs and news websites. Advisers who attend tell us every year that it’s one of the most valuable things they do. You’ll leave inspired and with great ideas that you can put to use in your own classroom.
