Step-by-Step: Accessing the MIPA Explorer On-Demand Library

Please follow these steps to access our on-demand materials.

MIPA Explorer will remain open until June 30. Program materials are housed on MSU’s online course system, D2L.

You can manage your program’s access to the MIPA Explorer On-Demand Library with a single user account, or each of your students can make their own account for the system so that they can easily access materials anywhere, any time! If you plan for your students to each have their own user account, please send MIPA a list of the names of all students to help us as we administer the MIPA Explorer website.

Please follow these steps to access the MIPA Explorer library

Note: A growing number of schools may block anyone outside your district from sending a message to student emails. If that’s the case for students in your district, they’ll want to use a personal email address in the following steps.

  1. Pay the fee to access MIPA Explorer materials. You can pay with a credit card at the time of registration or the registration system can email you an invoice to give to your school bookkeeper to pay. We generally do not open access to the library until payment is received.
  2. Create an MSU Guest Account to access MSU’s online systems. The email you use to create your guest account acts as your user name to access MIPA Explorer in the next step. Here’s a video showing you the process.
    • Advisers may create a single MSU Guest Account to share with students, or they can have students create their own MSU Guest Accounts (recommended if your students will be accessing the MIPA Explorer outside of class or if they are pursuing MIPA Badges).
    • If you choose to have your students create their own MSU Guest Accounts, please send MIPA a list of your students by emailing ask@mipamsu.org. We recommend students use a personal email account rather than a school account. Many districts are not restricting the ability of outside entities, like MIPA and MSU, to email student accounts.
    • The MSU Guest Account system will send you a confirmation email from help@msu.edu. You will need to click the link in that email to complete setup of your MSU Guest Account and create a password. (Check your spam folder if you don’t receive that confirmation email within a few minutes.)
    • Students who already have an active MSU Guest Account can use that existing account.
  3. “Enroll” in the MIPA Explorer course in D2L. After we process your registration, MIPA will email you information about how to use your MSU Guest Account to “enroll” in MIPA Explorer via MSU’s D2L system. Watch this step.
  4. Once you have your MSU Guest Account and you have enrolled in D2L, you’ll be able to access MIPA Explorer any time with your MSU Guest Account login at https://d2l.msu.edu. MIPA Explorer materials are available until June 30, 2022.
